FOSSIL STONEWARE

The following pages of fossil stoneware are a showcase for some fascinating objects of art.  Every item was carved by hand by a skilled artisan and fashioned in quite crude surroundings.  For the price, it is no wonder that such difficult and skilled work coupled with the use of rare and genuine fossil-bearing rock makes for an item so inexpensive.  

Each piece is unique and one-of-kind and with every purchase, a certificate of authenticity / data sheet on the fossil is included.  That's the beauty about such an item.  Since the material used is so unique, no two will ever be the same.  Your purchase will be the only one in the world!

Since these are HANDMADE items made with primitive techniques and tools, the workmanship will not be perfect like a factory-produced piece.  Furthermore, the stone is from the Devonian Period 395 - 345 MILLION YEARS AGO.  There are many veins and fissures as the stone formed and aged.  What looks like a crack is only a part of the stone.  Each piece is sturdy and heavy similar to carved objects in marble.  The pieces can be used everyday but do require special care in handling as the stone can chip or break.

 The serving items are meant for display and limited serving with protection.  They are not guaranteed food safe.  If you would like to use any of these masterpieces for serving foods, it is advised to use clear glassware over the item, a napkin or a doily.

Nothing can compare to the natural beauty, intrinsic value and history of these stunning art pieces.  Each purchase will be treasured for a lifetime and serve as an excellent conversation piece wherever displayed as much as a thought-provoking educational wonder.
